Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 16, 2026
FutureLedger (“FutureLedger”, “we”) is operated by Cogito Systems LLC. This policy explains what we collect when you use futureledger.org, why, and the choices you have. Questions: privacy@futureledger.org.
Browsing without an account
You can read the public ledger, leaderboards and figure pages without an account. We do not ask for any personal information to do that. Like most web services, our hosting provider and servers may record technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and reliability.
What we collect if you create an account
- Account details: your email address, a username, and your password. We store only a one-way hash of your password, never the password itself.
- Your activity: the figures, topics, statements and comparisons you follow, your in-app notifications, and your notification and email preferences.
- Verification and reset records: single-use, time-limited tokens used to verify your email and reset your password. We store only a hash of each token.
How we use it
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To send account emails (email verification and password reset).
- To send the email digests you opt in to (new predictions and resolutions for figures you follow). These are off by default, and every digest has an unsubscribe link.
- To show your followed items, notifications and a personalized home page.
- To detect errors and abuse and to keep the service running.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not show advertising.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to run your account: a session cookie that keeps you signed in and a security cookie that protects against cross-site request forgery. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Who we share it with
We use service providers to run FutureLedger, and they process data on our behalf: Railway (hosting and database), Resend (sending email), and Vercel (domain name service). We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users or the service. If the business is ever sold or reorganized, account information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.
Public information
The ledger itself (public figures, their statements, outcomes and accuracy scores) is public information about public figures. It is not data about our users, and your account is never shown publicly.
Retention and your choices
- Delete your account: you can delete your account yourself from your profile. This removes your account, follows, notifications and sessions.
- Change or correct your data: you can change your email and password in your profile.
- Email: turn digests off in your profile or with the unsubscribe link in any digest.
- Notifications are cleared automatically after a period of time (read ones after about 30 days, all others after about 90 days).
- For anything else, including a copy of your data, write to privacy@futureledger.org. Backups and logs may keep data for a limited time after deletion.
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and limits on sign-in attempts. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Children
FutureLedger is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Where data is processed
FutureLedger is operated from the United States, and your information may be processed there.
Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the date above and, for significant changes, notify account holders by email or on the site.
